Also laut der IATA, der Int. Fluglinienvereinigung:
The "piece concept" defines the amount of baggage entitled by the passenger's ticket by the number of bags. Generally, the "piece" concept allows two pieces of checked baggage for each passenger, each piece weighing no more than 32 kilos (70 lb) and measuring no more than 158 cm (62 in) adding the dimensions: height + width + length.
--> also 32 kg
The "piece concept" concept is generally in use on flights within, to and from Canada and the United States. The "weight concept" is generally used in the rest of the world. Under both systems, the total baggage allowance includes checked plus unchecked baggage together. Also under both systems, free allowance baggage is generally defined as those items necessary for the passenger's journey, such as clothing and personal articles within certain limitations.
--> ... für Flüge innerhalb, nach und von Kanada und den Vereinigten Staaten
aber direkt auf den Seiten von United Airlines findet sich da sehr wohl eine Änderung:
New policy applies for travel purchased on or after September 7, 2005.
United Airlines will modify its free checked-bags policy for international travel, to reflect new weight limits of 50 lbs. (23 kg) each for up to two pieces.
United is waiving excess weight charges up to 70 lbs. (32 kg) each for up to two pieces of free checked baggage for international travel purchased through September 6, 2005 . Excess baggage charges will be applied for international travel purchased on or after September 7th.
The new policy will apply to international travel to/from the U.S. and all international destinations.
--> das heißt: mit LH über den Atlantik: 32 kg
--> Weiterflug mit UA --> 23 kg...
--> das heißt: mit UA über den Atlanik: 23 kg
Man erkennt das so genannte Code Sharing an der Flugnummer:
dreistellig - ist immer, der der tatsächlich fliegt
vierstellig - ist immer der Partner
LH 310 --> Lufthansa-Flugzeug
LH 0310 --> Partner-Airline-Flugzeug
Well, das macht mir Amerika, neben anderen "Kleinigkeiten" so unsympathisch in der letzten Zeit als Reiseland.
