Hi,
ich überlege mir, ob ich im Nov. nach Bali und Hongkonk fliegen soll. Nun hab ich mich schon etwas informiert und habe diese Meldungen gefunden die mich verunsichern.
Australia Warns Against Travel to Bali, Indonesian Provinces
Aug. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Australia's foreign affairs department warned citizens from traveling to the Indonesian beach resort of Bali and other provinces, saying the potential for terrorist attacks in the Southeast Asian nation remains high.
``We continue to receive a stream of credible reporting suggesting that terrorists are in the advanced stages of planning attacks against Western interests in Indonesia,'' the department said on its Web site. ``Attacks could occur at any time, anywhere in Indonesia and could be directed at any locations known to be frequented by foreigners.''
The warning follows a comment by Indonesia's President Susilo Bamban Yudhoyono of increased terrorist activity in the region. Yudhoyono said yesterday he ordered agencies to boost security in the nation for at least the next two months.
The warning marks the second time the Australian government has advised its citizens to defer travel to Indonesia in two months. A bomb in Bali in October 2002 killed more than 200 people while a car bomb in front of the JW Marriot hotel in Jakarta in August 2003 left 12 people dead. A car bomb outside the Australian Embassy in Jakarta in September 2004 killed at least nine people and injured 182, blowing off the building's security gates and leaving a three-meter crater in the road.
Indonesia, which is battling Jemaah Islamiyah, a group it says has links to the al-Qaeda terrorist network, is ``still looking for dangerous bomb makers Malaysian Azahari and Noordin Muhammad Top,'' Yudhoyono said in a speech yesterday.

Note left with bomb parts at Bali hotelSeptember 1, 2005 - 5:29PM
Bomb components found at a hotel in Bali's tourist strip were accompanied by a letter in Arabic, Indonesian police sources say.
Investigators are understood to be translating the letter, which was found inside a bag containing materials for a small bomb, but no explosive.
Meanwhile hotels said they would step up security following the scare.
The bag was found on Wednesday outside the lift on the fourth floor of the Kuta Paradiso Hotel on Kartika Plaza Street, a busy strip of shops, restaurants and beachfront hotels, many of which are full of foreign tourists.
Among items in the bag were charcoal powder, wires, a timer and a battery.
"It has all the elements of a small bomb, except for the explosive," said Bali police chief General I Made Mangku Pastika.
Police have collected closed circuit television footage from the hotel in a bid to find the person or persons responsible.
Pastika would not speculate on whether he thought the incident was an attempt to scare off tourists, or whether the person or group behind it were part of a terrorist organisation.....
Was haltet ihr davon? Das man heutzutage nicht mehr sicher ist, fast egal wohin man geht ist klar. Aber diese 2 Nachrichten machen mich doch etwas nachdenklich....
